Eighteen years ago, the once-pristine Chua Mountain peak was a daunting destination — its rugged, treacherous path and the dilapidated remains of a long-forgotten French resort made it a place many feared to reach.
Today, it has become a must-visit destination on the global tourism map, drawing tens of thousands of visitors every single day from around the world.
The bold determination of Da Nang and Sun Group to “awaken Ba Na” marked not only the miraculous revival of Chua Mountain, but also the beginning of a radiant journey — one that has illuminated the transformation of Da Nang into a rising star in international tourism.
That journey has turned Da Nang from what was once seen as a mere stopover into a globally celebrated destination, with landmark contributions such as Sun World Ba Na Hills — now a world-renowned tourism icon and Asia’s leading theme park; the Golden Bridge — recognized as a modern wonder of the world; the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) — an award-winning celebration of light; Da Nang Downtown — the city’s vibrant entertainment and festival hub; and an exceptional collection of luxury resorts, highlighted by the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort — a four-time winner of the World’s Leading Luxury Resort award by the World Travel Awards.
These remarkable achievements are the result of 18 years of bold vision, relentless perseverance, and the close partnership between Sun Group and the city of Da Nang — a shared commitment to overcoming every challenge and reaching for new heights.
This journey is brought vividly to life through the “Journey of the Sun” exhibition, featuring 8 towering books, each over two meters tall. Crafted with intricate curves and artistic precision, the display evokes the feeling of walking through the pages of a living storybook. Each book invites visitors to explore milestone moments in Sun Group’s legacy in Da Nang — reflecting on a journey of beauty, innovation, timeless architecture, and global recognition.
At the heart of the exhibition stands a stunning giant sunflower, 3 meters in diameter and weighing 60 kilograms, entirely handcrafted to symbolize the strength and pride of a sunflower blooming under the sun. It promises to be a highlight and an irresistible photo opportunity for visitors.
Taking place from March 26 to March 30, the “Journey of the Sun” exhibition is held along Phan Dang Luu Street (in front of Tien Son Sports Palace) as part of the broader event “Da Nang – 50 Years of Development and Integration,” commemorating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Da Nang City Party Committee (March 28, 1930 – March 28, 2025) and the 50th anniversary of the city’s liberation (28/3/1930 - 28/3/2025), hosted by the Da Nang People’s Committee.
